Frequently asked questions about tooth whitening

Is the tooth enamel damaged?

No, this treatment does not affect the enamel. Therefore, there is no chance of tooth sensitivity if you follow the instructions given by your dentist.

Do you feel pain during treatment?

No, the treatment is completely painless for the patient. Normally, no anaesthesia is required.

How long does whitening last?

There is no exact duration as it depends on the quality of each patient's enamel and their dental hygiene habits. However, the reality is that teeth will never return to the yellowish shade they had before treatment. There are some patients who decide to renew the treatment every year or every two years while some patients had it done years ago and have not had it repeated.

In which cases is whitening recommended?

For all people who have dental stains or discolouration. This may be due to bad habits such as smoking, excessive coffee consumption, fluorosis or enamel malformations.

Are there any foods I can't eat after bleaching?

Our experts recommend restricting the intake of coffee, cola, or certain colouring agents such as saffron, as these foods are highly coloured.

What is the minimum age for bleaching?

Although some dentists believe that 14 years of age is a good age to opt for this treatment, we recommend waiting until 17 years of age, as the level of sensitivity it can produce in the dentition will be much lower.
